T-8: Arrival of Parents

The morning started off unremarkably: I woke up, ate breakfast, made myself coffee, and joined Sunday school. Once that was over I helped watch Becca, create a shopping list, and unpack a few items. Sara’s parents arrived during the middle of that process, which is when the fun started.

Sara’s Dad was eager to help and got started with the garden. Sara gave him a bunch of tools and he was quite happy to enjoy being outside and pruning back various overgrown elements. (Her yard includes an orange and a lime tree, so I’m a bit jealous of all the deliciousness she can get up to with those fresh ingredients!)

On the other hand, Sara’s Mom was more interested in completing her own check list. She held Becca, watched while other people held Becca, and generally proclaimed how adorable she was. This was followed by meandering around the house. When Sara asked her to help out with the unpacking process, she complied, but slowly and reluctantly. Needless to say, it made the day go much slower as she would claim to be helping while hogging tools, like the only pair of scissors.

The good news is, I ended up with Becca towards the end of the day, so I started watching WandaVision. The first few episodes are definitely odd, but I’m enjoying the growing dissonance and plot complexity. It gives me great hope for both Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. (Though I have to admit that I’m disappointed by Disney’s choice to make most of the episodes 20-30 minutes long. It feels very unsatisfying to get to the end of an episode, just like the Mandolorian. Disney, I get that exposition is boring but so is having too little dialog.)
