T-3: Spotify

While I was living in the US, Spotify was a central part of my work flow. I loved the way it allowed me to stream the music I wanted, plus the advertisements every 30 minutes prompted me to evaluate how I was spending my time. Since I can find myself distracted by… almost everything on the internet, this is a good thing.

However, after moving to Canada I switched to YouTube as my Spotify account was American, and it didn’t transfer. (Why, Spotify, why?) This resulted in me installing ad blockers on my browsers as I hated listening to an advertisement every five minutes. When Tull went ahead and purchased access to a VPN service… I didn’t make the connection.

Today, I’ve been working while listening to Spotify. I missed it. I’m glad this trip has given me the chance to be less of an idiot and put the pieces together.

I find it surprising that free Spotify accounts can’t cross borders, but I’ve never tried to use Spotify while travelling. You could also create an account in Canada and share your play lists.

Or, you could be bold and create a brand new play list with a completely different type of music. Even I have three different play lists (and counting …)
