Day 1: Plus a Half Monkey, Minus a Half Monkey
This morning started earlier than I was expecting. I thought Sara and I had agreed I would set my alarm for 5 am, but somewhere along the way Mike set his for 4am and Sara set hers for 430am. Needless to say, I got woken up at 430am.
We packed the car, ditched some of the bulkier items, and then I took the car for a spin around the block. We left pretty much exactly when Sara wanted to, which was 6am.
The positive half-monkey barrel for today was stopping at a closed gas station, scratching my phone cover, and one of the dogs deciding she can no longer walk on her sprained leg.
The negative half-monkey barrel was making it to Birmingham around noon. Sara called the hotel, and they said we couldn’t check in early. Since we’d end up driving anyway, we decided to keep going to Nashville.
So, I started today in Georgia and ended it in Tennessee. I’ve taken road trips this long before, but I’ve never driven them myself. Since Sara has to pump more frequently than Becca needs to feed, I suspect I’ll be doing most of the driving.
Thankfully, we’re currently half a day ahead of schedule.
(Becca is crying, so I need to go; I apologise for any typos; I haven’t proofread anything.)
