T-15: Orange Fig Curd
I’m already missing my knitting.
I woke up, did some exercises, got dressed, ate breakfast, and started work around 830 am. My hosts didn’t get up until closer to 9 or 930am. Being quiet doesn’t bother me, but I only brought so much to occupy myself with and I’m already a bit bored by day 4. sigh
That being said, I haven’t cracked any books yet. If the weather stays nice, maybe I’ll avail myself of the porch and sit outside and read tomorrow morning.
However, it does mean that I attempted some baking today: an almond flour cake with an orange fig curd filling with toasted walnuts. However, the sponge ended up extremely flat, so I dumped the icing on one side and turned it into a faux Swiss roll, minus the walnuts. I have extra icing, so I’ll likely try the cake again tomorrow, since the icing is delicious.

In the midst of my baking my host came down to sample, which was fine with me. What was more interesting was that she then went through the flours Sara left for me and decided to throw several out since they were expired. I told her I didn’t mind eating them, but she insisted, so I didn’t make a fuss about it.
After I finished work, I had a call with Tull before diving back into being John Watson. In the company of Sherlock Holmes and an irregular by the name of Capt. Barrington, we solved a murder of a fez collector before heading off to Calais. We caught up with the Orient Express and got settled in our berths… so we could head to bed in real life.
